Welcome to the Southside Rock'n'Roll Club



Our first lessons for 2026 will be Beginner Rockabilly, taught by Shane and Annie. Lessons start on 19 February, 7pm at Canberra Deakin Football Club, upstairs. You can enrol on the night and pay by cash or card. This is a 4-lesson course, but you can attend as few or as many lessons as you like.

Lessons cost $10 per session, and students must also be members of Southside Rock'n'Roll Club - this will cost $10 for the 6 months membership to 30 June 2026. Further lessons are on 26 Feb and 5 and 12 March, Lessons 1, 2 and 3 at Deakin and Lesson 4 at the Slovenian Australian Club in Phillip. Following each lesson, we will play music for practice and social dancing until 10, so stay around, grab a drink and meet some of our members.

If you need dinner, Vatreni Bistro at Deakin closes at 8pm, so you would need to eat before the lesson. The bistro at the Slovenian Club is open until 8:30.

Please register for lessons at bookings@southsiderocknroll.com and let us know if you don’t have a partner attending classes with you. We can find someone to fill in, just tell us if you are learning to lead or follow.

There is no need to pay for membership and lessons in advance. We accept cash or credit/debit cards on the day, or you can pay ahead of time by bank transfer. Our BSB is 641800 and the account number is 200736891. Please use the word lessons and your surname as a reference.

Wear comfortable clothing and shoes. Shoes with hard soles are best for moving around the dance floor. If you don’t have any, use an old pair of socks over your shoes.
